New Lead Testing Laws For Schools’ Drinking Water In Illinois
As our country continues to progress in the fight against lead exposure and lead poisoning, Governor Bruce Rauner of Illinois signed legislation this week requiring elementary schools and day care centers to test their drinking water for lead and notify parents of the results.
“Under the law, Illinois schools built before 1987 will have to test by the year’s end. Those constructed between 1987 and 2000 have until the end of 2018. Day care centers constructed before 2000 that serve children under 6 will also have to test.”
